FLUTE
FLUTTERS FLAUTISTS Abigail Burrows is a talented musician, who started training as a Scholarship
student at the Purcell School before continuing her studies at the Royal
College of Music, under ‘Susan Millan’. Through this time, Abigail has been
awarded the Austin and Hope Pilkington Award.
She has had numerous Television and radio appearances, for example;
performed live on Norway television and Classic Fm and the BBC World Service. Alongside ‘Flute
Flutters’ Abigail, has performed as a soloist in a private concert for Prince
Charles in St James's Palace (1995). The Mozart's Flute concerto in G (1995)
with an orchestra at The Royal Festival Hall.
Whilst at the Purcell School, she was principal flautist of the school's
orchestras and played in several venues such as Windsor Castle, St
Martin-in-the-fields, QEH, Germany tour and Buckingham Palace.
(1995-1999). Abigail received
sponsorship by Watford's Twinning Towns Association to tour music schools in
Russia (as a soloist and duo with violinist) in 1998. She was invited back to Russia (1999) to perform as a
soloist in the Philarmonia Hall in Novgorod.
With the duo, Abigail toured Germany as a soloist and flute/violin duo
for the Bach 2000 Anniversary Celebrations, performing in Halle, Dresden, Berlin
and Leipzig. Kirstin Oliver
is a freelance performer, who completed a BA (Hons) degree in Music
with Theatre Studies, with 1st Class at Derby University and
continued her studies with PGCE secondary music and Instrumental Tuition.
She started her training through attending Nottinghamshire Music Centre,
and performing with the ‘Country Concert bands, and orchestras and
participated in local Nottinghamshire ensembles, Nottinghamshire Police Wind
Orchestra, the Boots Orchestra, Nottingham Symphony Orchestra.
Kirstin’s versatile
playing style, has taken her into a range of musical styles from ‘Pure
Improvised Jazz’ and Samba to playing principle two wind bands at the National
Finals in Manchester (2002). Kirstin
has solo’s performed with the Bestwood Male Voice Choir, Nottingham, on a few
occasions, and had solo spots with Richard Claydeman and Jon Bon Jovi at the
NEC, Birmingham. She has principled
in Orchestra’s in the East Midlands, Birmingham and London, most recently ‘
the Rehearsal Orchestra, ‘South Band Symphony’ and ‘Glebe Symphonic
Winds’.

Flutters Background
The
flute flutters is a new vibrant duet with a difference and is known from its
variety of repertoire ranging from Bach to Britney Spears. The flautists are
classically trained and regularly perform in various professional orchestras and
ensembles across the UK. The most recent performances for ‘Flute Flutters’ have
been a dinner performance members
of the royal family at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. Also an variety
show alongside Paul Daniels and Ken Goodwin and the Conservative Party Delegates
meeting. The duet is competing in National and International chamber
music competitions throughout 2003, recitals planned at St.Martin-in-the-Fields,
Milton Keynes and Leicester University lunch time series and the duet is
attending the Edinburgh, Brighton, Galway music festivals in 2003. Resent and forthcoming hotels the duet has performed
in for private functions, weddings, and foyer performances include the
Dorchester, Charlecote Park, Chattsworth House, Scalford Hall, Shuttleworth
Manor, Jarvis Newton Park Hotel, Phyllis Court Club and Hagley Hall.

The flautists in the duet are classical professional
performers trained from the Royal College of music and Royal Northern College of
Music and regularly perform in various professional orchestras and ensembles.
Alongside their flourishing solo and duet engagements the flautists
regularly perform in various professional orchestras. We have recently performed at the National Wedding Show at the NEC, UK London Wedding fair, Wembley Stadium, and the ICC Birmingham, as part of their ‘Discovery Day’. In June Flute Flutters performed a joint ‘music live’ and golden Jubilee celebrations concert. The duet has had pieces broadcasted on BBC Radio Nottingham and BBC Radio Birmingham, as well as BBC TV East Midlands Today. |
