This exciting  band from the West Midlands has been entertaining audiences for over 25 years in England, Germany and in the home of Jazz, New Orleans. And it was in New Orleans that Honorary Citizenship was bestowed on the band by the Mayor of that city at a ceremony in May 1996, in recognition of the consistently high standard of jazz music with which the band had performed over a number of visits there during the nineties.

They have been featured as ‘Band of the Week’ on Radio WM, and have appeared in many prestigious events including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, The Berlin Jazzfest, and twice at the Balve Jazz Festival which is held in an enormous cave in the Sauerland region of Germany.

Humour has always been an essential ingredient of jazz, as is evident in the works of Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Louis Jordan et al., and this band has the ability to feature its own original and distinctive humour without jeopardizing the integrity of the music.

The first tour to Germany took place in 1995 and included the first of five annual visits  to a gig at the Saegewerk Jazz Club and Restaurant on the banks of the picturesque Moehnesee, in the shadow of the Moehne Dam of Dam Buster's fame.  Also on that tour a relationship was formed with our good friend Andreas von Zitzewitz who invited them to play in the Biergarten of a Jazz Keller in Bad Pyrmont, a beautiful town near Hanover.

Many top professionals have enjoyed playing with the band including Humphrey Lyttelton, Ray Foxley, Campbell Burnap, Monty Sunshine and of course Kenny Ball who has performed with the band every year for ten years at a regular and very popular summer event.
